Libertarians and government funding

Libertarians have no problem with the creation of public assistance bodies, or charities, but the idea that the population needs "governing" is strongly rejected.

The raising of funds for such bodies is believed to be something individuals should be free to choose to do, rather than being forced by threat of law and incarceration to follow, as is the case with government taxation.

This is respecting individual liberty and seen as a sacred duty by the libertarian.
